Types Of Weight Loss Teas

When you are trying to get rid of your extra weight and shed some pounds you have so many options to consider. There is exercise, diet pills, different diets, but there is also diet tea. If you choose to base your weight loss on tea or simply use it to boost your results, you should know that there are many different weight loss tea types out there. Let’s get to know 5 of them.

Green Tea

This is the most known and loved weight loss tea. It is also probably the most studied one as there have been numerous medical and clinical trials done on the effect of green tea. All these studies have shown that it definitely has benefits.

There is caffeine and plenty of antioxidants in green tea to boost your metabolism, improve endurance and give you energy. This makes you burn fats faster and you have the power to be active and work out longer.

Green tea also has a number of other health benefits, it can prevent some forms of cancer, fight diabetes and high cholesterol.

There are several brands of weight loss teas available that are based on green tea. We can recommend Tava Tea, which is among the most popular and top rated diet teas.

Oolong Tea

Number two in our list is Oolong tea. Unlike green tea, oolong tea is partly oxidized. This means that its composition is really a hybrid between the regular black tea and green tea – both of which we like to drink so much.

Due to being partially oxidized, there are a number of different antioxidants including thearubigins, theaflavins and catechins in this tea.

Oolong tea is most popular in China, Taiwan and Japan where people have been drinking it for a long time and where it was first considered a great weight loss tea. Today, this tea has found its way into the western world and many dieters prefer it to green tea because of its taste.

There have been a few studies on oolong tea, and the results show that it does increase metabolism, blocks some fats from being absorbed and burns fats faster. It is recommended to drink oolong tea in the winter as it reduces the stress and puts you in a better mood in this cold and dark season.

Detox Tea

The main purpose of detox teas is to remove all the harmful toxins from your body. This is good for your health, digestion and can even improve your mood. But what about weight loss?

Most detox teas say they can also aid with weight loss. Unfortunately, it’s not as easy as simply drinking the tea, in order for it to work you also need to go on a calorie restrictive diet, especially if you are after long term results.

It may not be for fast weight loss, but it’s a great choice for those who are already on diet as detox tea helps to guide all the toxins that are released as you burn your excess fats out of your body.

Laxative Tea

From the name only, you probably already know what it does. These teas are the most common “diet teas” sold in supermarkets and health stores. There is one thing though, herbal laxative teas are not meant for those who don’t actually suffer from constipation. If you drink too much of them, you may end up with loose bowels and the need to always stay close to a toilet.

Laxative teas are not the best choice for long term weight loss as they come with side effects like intestinal cramps, diarrhoea, loss of nutrients, and what’s even worse – you may become addicted to  your tea.

We can’t really recommend laxative teas, especially if you are not really constipated. There are some cases where drinking too much tea that contains buckthorn, senna or cascara has resulted in unconsciousness or even death.

Hoodia Tea

Hoodia is a cactus that South African people have been using for centuries to fight off hunger in periods when there isn’t enough food. Hoodia tea is a new concept but it is gaining more popularity each year.

Hoodia tea works by suppressing appetite as it contains P-57, which is a natural appetite suppressant. If you drink a cup before each meal, you should be able to keep your portions small and your calorie intake low, which results in weight loss.

Since hoodia is hard to find and it is endangered, the tea may be quite expensive. However, it has shown some great results, so you may want to give it a try.

Which One To Choose?

Which type of diet tea you choose really depends on you and your preferences. If you want to boost your metabolism and support your weight loss plan that is based on diet and exercise, choose green tea or oolong tea, however, if your main problem is your appetite, hoodia tea will help you out.

  17. daisy molina says:

Hi, Iove your videos so are inspirational:) how many cups of water should I
    use for this tea? Thanks

  18. priscilla d says:

I’m adding honey, very good for you…that’s my recipe

  19. nigella4me says:

Honey has SOME good qualities, but it still spikes your blood sugar, it
actually has more carbs then sugar, and the whole idea behind this is to
lower your insulin levels which is what helps you to lose weight and lessen
    your cravings for carbs..

  20. I only did it for two weeks to kick start a healthy eating plan. As long as
you don’t have a problem with the ingredients, I don’t see why you can’t do
it every day, it’s just cinnamon, ginger and water, something some people
    eat every day. 🙂

  21. Does it matter if you drink it cold for weight lose purposes?

  22. Nathan Dithmart says:
